About

Running is my jam. Personal goal is set to achieve 50 half marathons in 50 states. So far I have completed 43. The journey has been amazing!

Growing up with asthma I NEVER enjoyed exercising! PE in school was the worst. We were forced to run and every day in elementary school and I always finished last. I felt like such an anchor, not to mention mortified.

By the time I got to college I was well over 200 pounds. My health was awful. Still plagued with chronic asthma, I was forced to carry an inhaler everywhere I went.

My last episode happened in my 20’s. when my room mates had to rush me to the emergency room due to a severe asthma attack. The episode was so severe I had to stay in the hospital for several days.

It wasn’t until I got married and had my first child that I had decided enough was enough. I wanted to change. I wanted to create a better life for me, and set a good example for my son.

After my son was born I made the commitment to strive to eat better and exercise every day. I started walking with the baby in the stroller everyday at the park. After a few months, I started to jog a little bit at a time. Eventually I worked my way up to my first 5k, then to my first half marathon.

I felt invincible after my achievement, until I became pregnant again. My weight rose to 240 pounds fast. After that, I felt pretty defeated. I was not really excited to start out at square one again. Who is? However I thought back to my original goals, and started training again.

The conditioning took about a year, but I got there. While training I successfully lost the 100 pounds and completed another half marathon. The same one actually in Nashville, TN. I had shaved a whole hour off my time and really grateful that I was able to complete the course. Seriously, I never thought I would ever finish one, let alone two half marathons!

Over the years I stayed committed to diet and exercise. I worked my way up to 43 half marathons and 2 full marathons!
